This very green powder can be perplexing, but if you turn it into a smoothie you'll love it. I started using this product in late 1999 for an autoimmune disease issue that almost killed me. It was so new it wasn't even in stores, yet. I couldn't swallow anything that wasn't liquid. I used apple juice, a banana, peanut butter and a scoop of the Perfect Food. I can no longer eat peanut butter, I am allergic, but use sun (flower) butter, which is delicious. You may have to taper up from half a scoop of Perfect Food for a week to 3/4 scoop to a full scoop, as it starts to help probiotics or friendly bacteria colonize in your gut. It does take a week or two, and it can be a little uncomfortable, but that is short, unless you don't take it for a day or two, and you may feel that again. For me, it's worth it. To this, you can add protein powder, meal replacement powder, a tablespoon or a cup of yogurt to make it creamier, or just mix it with water and drink. You can add any kind of juice, milk, or fruit. It improved my immune system function so well that I am a customer for life, and my friends started drinking smoothies with Perfect Food, and their friends started, too. One friend uses nonfat strawberry yogurt, soy milk, frozen strawberries and a banana with a scoop of Perfect Food. It's delicious. Her cats love it, too. She list weight and I was under weight, and my weght stabilized, too. Another friend gives it to her dogs. They love it (just don't use chocolate for dogs). I have substituted coconut milk for the juice, in addition to almond, hemp, rice, oat and sometimes soy milk. Second, on Amazon it was literally HALF the cost that it was in the health food store I purchased the first bottle from. That said, this stuff is AWESOME! It tastes great, mixes up very smooth and not gritty--as long as you can shake it vigorously a few times--so use a bottle with a tight lid. As far as the taste, I am used to eating pretty healthy (lots of greens) and low sugar and I use stevia all the time , and eat raw cacao nibs--both used to flavor this drink. If you start drinking this from a McDonald's or processed food diet, you might not think it tastes good at first. The typical American diet is full of sugar and salt and high fructose corn syrup and MSG. So flavors are "souped" up. This stuff is very natural tasting. Now, the way it makes me feel--healthy. I have several autoimmune disorders and some digestive issues. This stuff really soothes my tummy and just makes me feel....better, for lack of a good description. It's nothing that's overt. But my skin is better, my sleep is a little better, I am a little more calm and happy and maybe less fatigued. And the best benefit, and the reason I started taking it, is that it raises my ph.
