Love this stuff so far! - Well I am writing this having not experienced the full effects of it yet...I just received it today, and I am drinking it now. I love Garden of Life products, that is why I ordered it and I like everything about what it contains. I mixed a scoop with probably more like 10 oz of water with about 2 oz of almond milk (says to mix with 8 oz water, I don't measure). Some people will not like the taste I'm sure because it does taste very vegetative, almost like "dirt" but in a good way (if you know what I mean, some will!). It tastes FRESH, to me, and like it's good for me! hahhaa I like it, it is made with actual cocoa powder and a bit of stevia so I'm sure that helps. It only has 35 calories so should not be used to replace all meals but I will be using it to replace one meal, probably, or even for a snack when I need energy. I will update this tomorrow after also trying it in a smoothie with yogurt, banana, almond milk, coconut oil and ice but without the typical protein powder I use. UPDATING NOW! About an hour after drinking my first try of this stuff, I literally felt an almost surge of energy and good tidings. This very green powder can be perplexing, but if you turn it into a smoothie you'll love it. I started using this product in late 1999 for an autoimmune disease issue that almost killed me. It was so new it wasn't even in stores, yet. I couldn't swallow anything that wasn't liquid. I used apple juice, a banana, peanut butter and a scoop of the Perfect Food. I can no longer eat peanut butter, I am allergic, but use sun (flower) butter, which is delicious. You may have to taper up from half a scoop of Perfect Food for a week to 3/4 scoop to a full scoop, as it starts to help probiotics or friendly bacteria colonize in your gut. It does take a week or two, and it can be a little uncomfortable, but that is short, unless you don't take it for a day or two, and you may feel that again. For me, it's worth it. To this, you can add protein powder, meal replacement powder, a tablespoon or a cup of yogurt to make it creamier, or just mix it with water and drink. You can add any kind of juice, milk, or fruit. It improved my immune system function so well that I am a customer for life, and my friends started drinking smoothies with Perfect Food, and their friends started, too. One friend uses nonfat strawberry yogurt, soy milk, frozen strawberries and a banana with a scoop of Perfect Food. It's delicious. Her cats love it, too. She list weight and I was under weight, and my weght stabilized, too. Another friend gives it to her dogs. They love it (just don't use chocolate for dogs). I have substituted coconut milk for the juice, in addition to almond, hemp, rice, oat and sometimes soy milk.
