The mat is more of a water-resistant cloth. Folds up easily and launders well. You can shake out crumbs in the trash can and damp wipe spots between laundering. It is a great catch-all under the high chair. **Q: Can this be used as washable pee pad for dogs. ?** A: It is water proof, but not padded. I does cover a large area, but I’m not too confident that can handle large amounts of pee. If it’s one or two accidents, with another pad it might work. **Q: Would this work to protect carpet from slime ?** A: Yes, of course, the splat mat can protect carpet from slime. **Q: Is it safe to put these in the dryer?** A: I havent done that just yet but I'm thinking it's fine cause I've put others like it only with alot more rubber * dog matts* in the dryer on high and it didnt ruin them. This one should not be an issue at all. I have used it and it's actually in my washer and it absorbs the liquids, but doesnt go through. Also it takes a few minutes before the liquids even absorb. Meaning if you hurry , you can wipe it up before it absorbs. Either way, I like it. It can be useful in several ways. Not just for highchair spills. But good for protecting furniture, bedding etc. Babies or pets. It's very thin, but I am pleased with it for the price. Hope that helps. Oh and very soft. I would put it in the dryer on a low or medium setting to keep the bottom in good shape. I've got mine in the wash now. Just haven't dried it yet. But that's my plan 😉. I would be surprised if it did get messed up.
