Li ho messi a mia figlia di 9 anni che su sentiero con neve e ghiaccio ha camminato bene. Nelle parti con ghiaccio in lastra compatta riusciva a camminare facendo un più attenzione rispetto a me che indossavo i ramponcini classici della camp. Per mia figlia sicuramente li preferisco ai ramponcini perché pesano molto molto meno nello zaino e perché non avendo punte sono più sicuri per ľ utilizzo da parte di un bambino. Anch'io li ho utilizzati con delle scarpe e li ho trovati comodi per camminare in quelle situazioni in cui i ramponcini sarebbero eccessivi (passeggiata ad inizio stagione quando il ghiaccio se c'è é poco spesso). Li utilizziamo anche per scendere con la slitta per frenare meglio su piste con tratti di fondo ghiacciato, in questo caso i ramponcini servirebbero solo a rompersi un ginocchio mentre questi yaktrax sono perfetti per aumentare ľ azione di frenata senza farsi male. Li ho comprati usati come nuovi per 15 euro, penso che il prezzo di 25 sia il prezzo giusto ma anche accettabile intorno ai 30-35 euro per chi va spesso in montagna a camminare o slittare. For example, I wear a men's 10.5 shoe so the regular sizing says the medium goes up to size 11. But with the pac boots you really have to stretch them hard to fit over the soles, so I got a large for those boots as well as a medium for regular shoes. **Q: Do these work well to run with on concrete sidewalks that are partially clear with snow and/or ice remaining only in spots?** A: When they were originally made in Boulder, Colorado, I could run 2 dogs every day for 1-4 miles and get at least one winter and part of the next on mixed ice and pavement. When they off-shored the coils compressed then wore down and rusted and the rubber fatigued within a week or 2. In other words they increased their profit margin by turning the product into trash by using a lower grade of steel and spacing the coils further apart. So it is possible but not when the investors are too greedy. **Q: No size chart? What size is women's 8-9?** A: I wear a Women's size 8. The manufacturer sizing information on the box, says for U.S. Women's Size 8, get a SMALL YakTrax. I have KEEN winter boots,size 8 medium. Keen's winter boot have a substantial heavy sole. There is no way that I can stretch the YakTrax Size S onto the KEEN boots. A medium would fit (but I haven't tried yet). The YakTrax SMALL just barely fits over a pair of "fashionable" winter boots, size 8, that have a dainty-sized,or thin sole. I suggest that you take your boots into a store and fit the YakTrax on before purchasing. If the stretch is too tight, you'll know right away (it'll strip off your nail polish and split a nail or two attempting). Be careful during the stretch 'cause it's like a sling shot! It can take an eye out! :) You want a YakTrax size that's easy enough to take off when you go indoors because on stone floors, these are slippery and on carpet, they will rip up the carpet. The manufacturer sizing information is misleading. **Q: Getting for a woman who is 73 and in pretty good shape. Would you recommend for her?** A: I have owned these for two years but really put them to the test today. Even the snow was coated with ice which did not collapse under my weight, but I was able to easily walk with them! I am completely impressed, but I agree with not wearing them indoors. After my elation at not falling on the ice and seemingly doing OK walking on a tile floor in the Metro station, I fell when stepping off the train onto the same tile floor. I stayed on the floor and removed them before preceding on my way. I am an "older lady" and think these are great for anyone. They pretty much require you to sit down to put them on, however, or maybe you could put them on most of the way and then put on your shoes. These were delivered to me Dec 29, which I was very impressed with, but they really weren't worn very often, until recently. They have completely fallen apart. It has been very icy here recently with some rough ice, but I thought they were made for that. They have actually been in this condition for the past week but I have had to continue wearing them in this condition because it is to dangerous without anything.. Maybe you had other complaints, not sure but I felt the need to report it. So disappointing.
