Review: Nice plane chisel hammer - I saw reviews saying the handle was long etc but it’s actually about the same as a western style claw hammer, their faces are about the same but visually appears off balance to some of us because there’s not as much steel and has a thin handle. Feels great in the hand, I’ll definitely be using this a lot more than my 12 or 16 oz hammers. I would only recommend oiling the handle and flattening the one face as needed.

I saw reviews saying the handle was long etc but it’s actually about the same as a western style claw hammer, their faces are about the same but visually appears off balance to some of us because there’s not as much steel and has a thin handle. Feels great in the hand, I’ll definitely be using this a lot more than my 12 or 16 oz hammers. I would only recommend oiling the handle and flattening the one face as needed.

My first 'Japanese style" hammer and have used it regularly for chiseling, adjusting, mating boards together, etc. I bought the 300 gram for 'everyday' use and it's a great weight for me. The tow ends of the head have one rounded surface and one flat... I mostly use the flat surface, but the rounded one comes in handy as well. Build quality is, well, Kakuri and should last a long time with everyday use in my workshop.
