If you look at the photos, you should be able to see this. Some people say the barrel grip gives a finer level of control. I don’t know about that. Otherwise, I have not been able to determine any significant differences. **Q: From the photos it looks like there's a set screw in the base for using a parallel guide, is that correct?** A: There is a lever on the rear of the jigsaw that unlocks the angle or tilt feature. Then one needs to push the base foward to tilt it.
