As you try to part the pieces you’ll find that you often either need scissors or a box cutter for the configuration desired.I ended up using a cheap electric foam cutter that uses a hot wire for some of the finer cuts I needed. It took me a lot longer to configure a case for several sensitive pieces than it would have had I ordered an empty case separately then ordered the true Pickin pluck foam. There was a lot more mess trying to customize the form that comes with this case . Yes if it’s just a few large puiecez you want to protect, this will work. As a technique, I place each item on the foam and trace it with a black felt tip pen before trying to handle the thick sheets that come with the unit. **Q: Crush resistant? Can an average sized adult sit on the case when it's laying down, on top of the lid, and not have the lid collapse, sink, or bow?** A: Yes. I sitnon the case often while it's in the back of our work van and it's very sturdy. If you are still on the fence, these are far better than pelican, and the extra money is well worth it for the quality you get. The latches, hinges, foam, everything is excellent quality.
