Having to write different reports on aircraft out on the flight line. I wouldn't say waterproof but it got the job done. I don't do much writing in the rain but the comfort of this one with my arthritic hands is second to none. Highly recommend. I would suggest you grab a few refill cartridges they're inexpensive. I get a couple months out of one. Enjoy the pen, I've got 2. **Q: Will these fit the Bastion mini Bolt Action... it says "all"?** A: all standard size pens; it will not fit our mini. Use ASIN: B0B4T4R2FY for our mini version **Q: what is the length of this refill?** A: It looks similar to a Parker G2 refill. Length should be 98 mm. **Q: Are the Bastion refill ink cartridges refillable ?** A: Ballpoint pen refills work exclusively with our Bastion Bolt-Action Pens. The ink is very nice and dark, and very smooth. These have been the best of this type (metal cartridge gel refills) that I have tried so far. Most of the others started off really nice, but after a week or 2 of use, the ink would become splotchy and occasionally stop flowing. These refills from Bastion have been very consistent after a month of use and are nothing short of excellent.That said, I still prefer the much cheaper (and dare I say, better) Pilot G2 refills, but not all pens can fit the Pilot refills. All-in-all, these perform very favorably to the Pilot G2 refills.
