The Hudson UBE-PAT passive assist trainer is a programmable upper-body exerciser designed for physical therapy clinics or home rehab use. The UBE-PAT offers a couple of notable advantages over traditional UBE exercisers. First, it offers motorized passive assistance, so therapists can make the workout either easier or harder depending on their clients' fitness and rehab level. Therapists can choose from three motorized speeds (15, 30, and 45 rpm) and three program run times (15, 30, and 45 minutes). Second, it lets therapists monitor their patients' pulse rate during activity via the built-in earlobe pulse rate sensor. This helps therapists determine whether a client is exerting him or herself too much--a crucial factor in maintaining client safety. Third, the exerciser comes with a wireless remote control, so therapists can change the time and speed without touching the equipment.  Other features include an LCD display that tracks the users time, speed, distance, and pulse rate; a bi-directional design with forward and reverse modes; and a one-year warranty.
