I read quite a few reviews before buying and curiosity got the best of me. I have a .45 Springfield 1911 A1 and it fit perfectly, which is the exact opposite opinion of most reviews. It seems as if most buyers haven't realized that there's a third screw in the front that tightens the rail. It's a great, strong piece added to my weapon, mostly for home defense. There hasn't been any problem with it slipping, either (don't use the long end of the tool for leverage). I haven't even put loctite on it... yet. Not sure why people continue to complain about their lasers being off sight but lasers are supposed to be used for only for CQB, not ranged combat. I can only imagine the distance they were shooting to miss center mass. My friends and I in the Infantry Marines call these types of people "shooting illiterates;" A.K.A. "gear qu###s." In other words, people that don't understand the science and strategy behind pieces of equipment. Yet, they still insist on stockpiling as much tactical gear as possible to compensate for their inexperience. All-in-all, it's a decent piece if installed properly. Review: Edit: THIS IS GARBAGE! - The throat of the mount which cradles the frame is too narrow to sit flush against the frame. The frame of my 1911 measures .766" side to side and the throat of this mount measured .752" inside the lips. Some 150 grit sandpaper and a 3/4" dowel took care of that. The access hole at the front of the trigger guard clamp just barely lines up with the access hole to tighten the setscrew and I'm not confident that the small setscrew provided will actually hold firm under recoil. I intend to drill this out to accommodate a larger setscrew if I decide this mount is worth any further effort. Guess I'll find out when I get to the range. Overall, I would not recommend this mount if asked. EDIT: I have not gotten to the range to fire shot #1 yet with this piece of trash and when I pulled my 1911 out today to inspect it, there was a crack inside the trigger guard that was not there after installation. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ordered despite the bad reviews. *by D***M on March 19, 2012* So I ordered this mount for my Taurus 1911 depsite the terrible reviews I read. After securing the mount to my pistol I found that this thing is rock solid. I literally tried to pry this thing off as hard as I could and it wouldn't budge. Some people on here said it scratched up their slide, I can see how they scratched it because they tried to slide it on from the front of the slide to the trigger guard where it mounts, the trick is, is to rotate it up onto the slide while your holding it as close to the position it will stay after its mounted. I dont think it was designed to be slid all the way from the front to the trigger guard. The mount for the trigger guard is shaped like sort of the wedge so it really cranks down tight and theres also a set screw to keep it there. I gave it five stars due to the price and because theres a copy of it listed for twice as much, also its %100 metal. If you have a non tactical 1911 but want to make it one then order this. I know everyones guns are slightly different but it fits my 1911 perfectly. Have fun shooting.
