A: That's more an issue of your disc drive rather than the cable. In theory if you have a drive that can then sure, but if you don't have one then I don't belive you could

A: Unless the SSD is pin-compatible with a 1.8” spindle drive, no, it won’t.  Also, since the USB 3.0 connector is designed for 5V, it might damage the SSD.

**Q: Can we use a usb extender to get an extra foot or so? a male to female usb extension?**
A: Remember a 3.0 And a 2.0 USB are diffrent. A 3.0 has more wire connections to give it a faster speed. So the extension would have to be a 3.0 extension or it cannot keep up with the speed. So think about this. The information is water and the wires are tubes. If you pour the same amount of water down 3 tubes instead of 2 it gets there faster but put a 2 tube in the middle it will bottle neck.
