We didn't want a permanent solution since we're planning to change rooms around, so previously, we'd had a removable baby gate in the doorway, leaving a few inches of space beneath for Cat. My husband and I begrudgingly stepped over the gate to get in and out. But when our elderly parent came to housesit, we realized stepping over the gate was no longer an option. I ordered this and got it in a day, and then had to quickly install it before we left for vacation. I was still hectically cleaning and packing when I realized I still hadn't put this up.It took less than 10 minutes to put together and fit into the door. I was so relieved. Both Cat and Grandpa can easily get through, and Dog hasn't even bothered trying to use it. (Dog is old...stronger dog could probably get this gate down.) When we decide which room to use permanently, it will be a breeze to screw into place, but it works great even without the screws. The only drawback for me is that the gate is not spring loaded to close automatically, as I've had with previous gates.
