The flap in the middle does a good job protecting the pens in the top & bottom section from each other so you don't have to worry about your pens getting damaged when it is folded. I haven't had it long enough to tell how well it will hold up over time. Its nice, but not so nice that I can tell that it will last a lifetime just by looking at it and touching it.
