So as far as sturdy goes, this holder poses no issue for the type of hose I have. I'd like to assume it would be just fine holding a standard rubber hose as well. As you can see in the pics, it holds my 100ft hose with plenty of space to spare. A rubber hose would be equally well suited for this holder as well. Pay attention to the depth of the holder, I purposely chose this one because it wasn't as wide/deep as others listed. I definitely recommend this product!

This is extremely nice and very sturdy. It might be just a holder for the hose, but it is much nicer to look at than other typical holders. Installation is very easy and simple.
