**Q: What is it? I'm guessing a combination of things llike Phenethylamine?**
A: Hello Tim. Actually this brand of 5-htp comes from the bean of an African plant. Which is a metabolite between amino acid L-tryptophan and serotonin. This is needed to help calm and regulate immume responses. Drugs like "tramadol" (ultram) destroy your body's ability to make healthy amounts of serotonin. Too much serotonin can be lethal--so take care if you have been taking such drugs and begin to take 5-htp.  It can cause an overload.  I would first wean myself off the filthy FDA drugs before you consider 5-htp. Xanax is another wicked FDA drug should be "banned" as it is in England now.  5-htp should not be taken until you wean off xanax (very difficult!) Stay with natural calming amino acids and your body will thank you. 5-htp will help with late withdrawal symptoms of xanax and tramadol too.

A: Yes there is, it is printed on the bottom of the container.  In fact I was surprised to see that it was Best by 09/2018!
