Yes, it has the expected "wet animal hair" smell but not too bad. I'm sure it will go away quickly. I may elevate this to a five star rating if it holds up well over the next few weeks. I've had this brush for over a year now. No complaints whatsoever! OK, I've now owned this shaving brush for over two years. Yes, it does shed a hair or two every other shave or so. It probably doesn't have the best crafted knot but still a very good value for the price.
