**Q: How often should this bulb be replaced? I've read articles that say UVB should be replaced every six months. But some exoterra bulbs advertise a year.**
A: I honestly forget what the package said.  but either way buying this bulb on Amazon for the price it is so much more worth it than spending $60 to $90 in a pet store.

**Q: Would these work well for grow lighting for my tropical plants in the terrarium.**
A: uvb does not grow plants. you will need a separate light for plants. uvb damages plants. google it

**Q: I'm just Turtle sitting for awhile for a sick friend. I need a light that can warm them up. Would this bulb fit into a normal desk lamp?**
A: This light is a very low wattage light that produces UVB rays. This will not give mutch heat for your turtles but combo it with a UVA/Heating lamp and it will do a great job. If your just looking for heating and you don't need the UVA and UVB rays a floodlight of a 120watt regular light bulb gives off a lot of heat. However if you do not have any means of providing UVA or UVB for the turtles this could lead to bad growth and other problems. If you just need something for a few days a 100-120w regular light bulb will hold them over until the owner can provide proper lighting. I would never use a regular light bulb for everyday use as it will not give off any rays the turtles need. Also if there is a tank heater and its only a few days the tank heater should hold them over but once again not long term. If your caring for them for a while you need to at very least get them a 80-100w "depending on distance" UVA basking light and a UVB will be needed eventually. There are bulbs that produce both kinds of rays and heat but they are very expensive and I believe they are called mercury vapor lights but im not 100% on that. Hope this helps...

**Q: is this good enough for a desert tortoise habitat in winter? I live in AZ so theres barely any cool weather**
A: I bought these for both my aquatic turtle and land turtle.  I keep both aquariums indoors, so they've worked fine.  You should be OK if you buy the correct bulb strength for the tank size you have, assuming you keep your tortoise indoors.
