I will agree with most of the posts above (although less harshly and assholish than some) that locks should not be necessary, unless you are trying to turn beginners (like grandkids) into carvers. They are most curious when camping and I do not have my good knives along. In cases like that, fixed blades or locking folders are IMO a must along with proper training. I would just say "Not for beginners". If you are experienced, I would not be concerned. If not, just don't start with this knife. **Q: Is this made by Schaefer?** A: This is sad. I am 63 years old and remember when "Schrade" and "Uncle Henry" were brand names of knives you were PROUD to own and showed off to all your friends. Fortunately I do still have one old 'Uncle Henry" old enough to be of good quality. I recall sharpening a knife (Uncle Henry) for our Sgt and when he cut himself with it the doctor (took 12 stitches inside & out to sew him up) said it looked like he had been cut with a scalpel. I bet you couldn't get one of these new knives that sharp. **Q: Do they make a left hand model** A: We do not carry a left handed model. **Q: Does anyone know how this compares to the flexcut 'carving jack'? it's an obvious attempt by schrade to copy but.......???** A: If you can afford a carving jack why would you even consider buying this ??? don't get me wrong it's a good little knife for the money but it's bulky and not ergonomic at all your hand will hurt after a wile and the blades don't lock like the carving jack .
