I prefer these over mousepads as your keyboard and mouse can be closer to each other with increased space for the mouse compared to just a standalone mouse pad. That being said, as far as desk mats go, this one is okayish. I do like the grey colour, which is why I went for this one, but the edges aren't stitched and that may result in fraying with use (to be seen given I have had this for a week or so). There are much better options with stitched edges, better colour and designs available, especially through some mechanical keyboard specialty stores.
