There is three position settings, vibrate only, audible only, and both alarms at the same time. I only use the vibrate as I'm quite deaf. **Q: Is the vibrating alarm from clasping the device to your pillow? Could the clasp be attached to a wrist strap/sweatband and achieve the same thing?** A: It has a clip that can be attached to a pillow so that it doesn't fall out of the pillow. You can attach the clip to a wrist strap/sweatband, but then the alarm that weighs about 5 ounces will dangle from your wrist and the vibrations won't shake you awake. In order for the alarm to wake you up, it has to have physical contact with your pillow or body, for example in your pants pocket. The vibrations do not travel up the flexible strap. The strap is there to keep the alarm from floating away. **Q: How long does the Sonic Alert vibrating function last? Does it turn off by itself or do you turn it off?** A: Mine vibrates so vigorously that it walks itself off the nightstand. Once it falls on the floor, it shuts off. I am hard of hearing and even with the vibration and alarm, I often still don't hear it. I toss and turn frequently at night and am afraid of losing it in the bed, so I now clip it to my watch band. I have had this alarm for several years and it still works fine and is easy to set. **Q: What does "Manually lighted display" mean? Can you see the time without having to press a button?** A: The default display is the common black LED time shown against a light background, much light a digital wristwatch has. You can read it easily in a lighted room, but not in the dark like some alarm clocks that display lighted numbers. I love the snooze feature, and I have used it for 4 nights in a row, and no problems. It does not snooze for so long that you fall back into a deep sleep...but it is also not too short, that it is annoying. 2. Setting it is super easy...and this is coming from someone who HATES setting alarm clocks 3. It has military and regular time! I love military time! 4. You can set it for vibrate only, beep only, or both together. I just use vibrate, it is plenty loud for me, and I hate high pitched beeping alarm clocks...they hurt me in my soul! This makes me so happy to wake up. The beep is loud if needed, but not outrageous! 5. The light works good....its sorta funny since it is not a backlit feature, it is a little light that shines onto the face....so not the best, but works just fine. I dont feel that it would get turned of while I am sleeping under my pillow....I just dont see how that could happen.
