It's faster than my pour over and because the coffee steeps, it uses less coffee than the pour over. Also, the reuseable mesh filter is easier to use than the paper filters for the pour over. It's also great for brewing tea. There's a filter so you can put the loose tea right in the pot if you're serving several people at one time. Or, to nurse the pot of tea for hours like I do, you can use the mesh filter and dispose of the tea leaves when brewing is complete. But, the real kicker to this carafe is it keeps beverages hot for hours, I just finished the pot I made eleven hours ago and it was still hot! It can also be used for cold brew coffee using cold water instead of hot and allowing the coffee to steep in the refrigerator over night. It also keeps beverages cold for hours on end. A great insulated carafe for brewing and serving both coffee and tea!
