W. Norton & Company that chronicles the profound mentorship between sculptor Auguste Rodin and poet Rainer Maria Rilke. Set against the vibrant backdrop of early 20th-century Paris, this critically acclaimed biography explores their artistic collaboration, personal struggles, and lasting impact on modern art and literature. Highly rated and ranked among the top biographies of artists, it’s a must-read for anyone inspired by creative transformation. ## Description In Paris in 1902, Auguste Rodin had just completed The Thinker; visiting from Prague was Rainer Maria Rilke, broke and with writer’s block. When Rilke was commissioned to write a book about Rodin, everything changed. You Must Change Your Life tells one of the great stories of modern art and literature: Rodin and Rilke’s years together as master and disciple, their heartbreaking rift and finally, their moving reconciliation. Rachel Corbett reveals how Rodin’s friendship led Rilke to write his most celebrated poems and inspired his Letters to a Young Poet . She captures the dawn of Modernism amid the characters that made up Rilke and Rodin’s circle, including Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, Lou Andreas-Salome, George Bernard Shaw and Jean Cocteau. And she recounts the friendship of two artists whose work reverberates a century later. Review: Great book, arrived on time - Light, good for carrying in beg. Ihave not finished reading yet, but something Rilke's fans should not miss. Fully recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ottimo *by A***O on 8 May 2021* Ottimo ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Two Artists in Paris *by G***K on 20 November 2016* This is a fantastic true story of the relationship between Rilke and Rodin. I devoured it in four or five days, which is very unusual for me. The writing is excellent. Not only do we read about the relationship between these two great artists but the author connects the whole story to the intellectual leaders of their time. For example, I know the paintings of Balthus, but I did not know that Rilke was the romantic partner of Balthus' mother for about five years and he had a great impact on the budding artist in his teens. This is just one of many historical connections that deepens the book and makes it unforgettable. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.us/products/253845374-w-w-norton-and-company-you-must-change-your-life](https://www.desertcart.us/products/253845374-w-w-norton-and-company-you-must-change-your-life) --- *Product available on Desertcart United States of America* *Store origin: US* *Last updated: 2026-10-02*
