The lights flash. **Q: Can you set the decibel to what you want? or is it in increments? if so, what are the increments?** A: The decibels are already programmed so you can't change them to your exact measurements. The decibels increase by increments of 10, starting with 50 the lowest and 110 the highest. **Q: Can I manually select the color that is lit up or will it only light up when the noise level gets too high?** A: Hello. It will only light up when there is noise. It remains on green when the volume is acceptable. Goes to yellow to give the class a warning for a few seconds, then it goes to red and the siren go off when the volume is too loud. However, everyone has their own interpretation on what is "too loud." That is why I love the Yacker Tracker. You can adjust the switch to what volume it is that YOU want the siren to go off to. I know I had to adjust it a little because it would go off if someone sneezed or sharpened a pencil...It's easy to adjust (only a switch on the side of it) and it worked great in my Kindergarten class. I am an art teacher *by T***Y on September 4, 2015* I really like mine. I am an art teacher. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is bc I see two "minor" flaws with the product. 1.) many reviews are correct in stating that it is too sensitive at one setting and not sensitive enough at another. 50 decibels is the lowest setting. This is about the noise level of a library. 60 decibels is the next setting and 70 the next. I have to keep it set at 70 decibels bc 60 is far too sensitive but at 70 decibels it doesn't seem to be sensitive enough so it still ends up getting pretty noisy in my classroom. 2.) the alarm is great (I have not used the voice setting) but if it gets loud enough in the room the volume of the alarm is not loud enough. I have only had that problem once so far though in the month that I have owned it. All in all I am really happy I have this product. It's pretty pricey and cheaply made but works decently. It's honestly helped me a lot so far.
