The shotgun pole comes with a mount that attaches straight to the mic. Personally, I purchased a shock mount. This will allow me to shoot without noise from the pole. If you are keeping the mic stable then the mount that comes with it should be fine. Also purchase an XLR extended cord or wireless mic since the pole gets decently long. **Q: What kind of microphone can I use with this item?** A: Depends on the mount you put on the end. Standard rubber band shock mounts usually work fine for shotgun mics, cardioid/super/hyper. Usually any pencil mic would work fine on a boom pole. **Q: does it come with the mic?** A: No **Q: Does it come with a monopod? And does it come with a wire to attach it to the camera?** A: There is no Monopod. This is just the boompole for the microphone with an extending arm mount.
