## Description

Nickel Bronze acoustic strings are made to bring out the unique tonal characteristics of your guitar, allowing its natural voice to shine through. This distinctive string alloy creates a clear, focused sound, magnifying the sonic properties of the guitar’s wood. Made with a NY Steel core and nickel-plated phosphor bronze wrap wire, Nickel Bronze strings get you the most out of your guitar and your playing. 13-56 Medium gauge strings provides maximum volume and projection, with more tension and resistance.

Review: Great strings - Love these strings. Put them on a 3/4 size guitar and they added depth to a guitar that sounded boxy and plasticky.
Review: A very worthy, albeit pricey, string option - Tried these strings for the first time & really like them. I tend to prefer nickel wound strings, & I also tend to prefer D’Addario, so these seemed like a home run. I was intrigued by the claim that these would bring out the “true sound” of my guitar. Damn effective marketing. I can’t definitively say it does that, but I CAN say that they do make my SJ-200 sound like a big, boomy cannon more so than other strings I’ve used. The tone is fairly bright. More so than I expected, but not complaining. Nice punch from the rosewood b/s, & gorgeous sustain. I can’t speak to longevity yet, but if they maintain their sound for any reasonable length of time, I’ll consider switching over to these full time. Or at the very least, add them to my rotation. My biggest concern is the price. As great as they sound, they’re very expensive for uncoated strings. I’m also not 100% sold on the balance. Lows & mids sound fantastic, but the highs don’t stand out as much as I’d like. But again, this is on an SJ-200, so I need to also put them on a more treble-friendly guitar.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: is therea ball at end of the string**
A: Yes they are made for steel string acoustic guitars

**Q: What light and medium and custom light means???**
A: Light and medium are the width of the strings. Medium strings resonate more but are harder to hold down. Light strings are easier to play but can buzz a little if played too hard. The custom strings try and give you the best of both worlds...lighter bass strings that are easier to play and thicker treble strings which resonate a little better. I like the customs myself.

**Q: is the 3rd string wound?**
A: Yes! A wound 24 third string

**Q: Do you recommend these d'addario nickel bronze strings for strumming ? (vs d'addario phosphor bronze)**
A: I am a strummer and I love these string. I have them on both my Taylor and my Martin. They have a rich tone whether picked, plucked, or strummed. I was one of the beta testers of these strings, sense then they are the only strings that I have used.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great sounding strings
*by C***S on March 4, 2019*

I have experimented with tons of guitar strings over the years. I used to switch between John Pearse, D’addario and Martin SP, all medium phosphor bronze. I like the warm one but tone either left after a few weeks of playing or didn’t get to the sweet spot until after a few weeks. I would read about players like Neil Young and Tony Rice talk about these nickel bronze strings and how their tone was well balanced with warm but not too bright or shrill. Now recently Martin has relaunched their Monel strings as Retro strings and Tony Rice and Laurence Juber have their own signature sets. But I wanted to try D’addario because I heard their sound demos and watched their videos first. I have gone through two sets of strings in the past 6 months. I mostly play fingerstyle way with either thumb and fingers or thumb pick. Sometimes I do Deep River Blues, sometimes a modal vamp, sometimes a James Taylor song. These strings sound beautiful and the tone just lasts. I keep my OOO Blueridge in the living room at all times so I can pick it up and just jam. It is great when digging in and when played softly. When playing acoustic, the tone is 80% hands. How do you articulate melody or drive the rhythm or create texture? The creative joy and challenge is finding all the sweet spots of tone, discovering new ways to play something that seems tired or just enjoying the groove. These strings let me do just that. I play for my enjoyment. I strum and hear the harmonic richness and love coaxing great sounds out of my instrument with these strings.
