Just one of these under a cookie sheet raises it off your counter to let it cool off much faster. No matter the size of the item, you just need to use one. I bought the pack so I could cool off more than one thing at a time. I really didn't need five of these, but wanted two; turned out it was a better price to buy the pack of five than to buy two individually in a retail store. The trivets themselves do not retain the heat from your dish so you don't have to wait to put them away. They fold easily so they take up a tiny amount of space, and they also wipe off with a just a wet cloth if you get something on them. If you don't want five, you could always give a couple to friends -- who will be thrilled when they see how well they work. Reasonably priced. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great trivet mat *by K***R on July 18, 2019* The bright colors only add to fun and usefulness of these trivets--they are "expandable" by folding out the triangles to accommodate larger hot dishes; for smaller ones, the triangles can be folded inward to save space. The rubbery texture makes them non-slip which I appreciate, and they won't scratch surfaces. I haven't had to clean them yet, but I imagine that if one had a nasty spill on one of these (a lumpy sauce, for example), an immediate rinse with hot water and a soak in soapy water should do the trick. If gunk were allowed to dry on them, I think cleaning them might require some effort--after a good soak and rinse, probably an old soft toothbrush and possibly a mildly abrasive cloth would help.
