What is the real story?** A: That's what it said on the package of mosquito attractant that came with my Flowtron bug zapper, but these refills last much longer (4.5x longer or 450 hours). They are not the same as the cartridges that are included with the zapper. **Q: how often do you change it** A: About every 30 days but sometimes I let it go longer. Depends on it I am getting a good amount of insects. **Q: I have some unopened octenol cartridges from last year, are they still good? what is the unopened shelf life?** A: Just doing some simple math here. One of these lasts for about 3 months in use (1/4 of a year). This means that you would use about 4 in a year (Less if you experience winter). They sell these in 6 packs, and they are only good for a year unopened. Doesn't this mean you're throwing 2 or more of these away every year?
