HOWEVER, only fill oil to the minimum level for first usage, then add if needed. I went half way between min and max, and the 350 degree oil spilled over when adding the food. Created a giant mess...not to mention a potentially very dangerous fire and burn situation. It would be nice if it had a set temperature indicator and a hook for the basket. For the price, the fryer fits my temporary needs, but for longer term usage I'd go with a different unit. UPDATE: Went to clean the fryer after a few uses, and the lack of a non-stick surface became a very apparent flaw.
