Unlike a conventional gut hook which typically lives on the back of a very sharp blade which has to point up at you while you’re reaching inside to dress the animal, the separate gut hook with the rounded polished tip allows you to slide your way in and maneuver around without puncturing organs or risk cutting yourself. Establish a small hole in the hide near the sternum and you can literally dress the entire animal with this hook SAFELY! 🙂

Unfortunately I lost my knives somewhere and bought another set. Blades are sharp and hold an edge. Buddy watch me field dress, skin out and break down 2 deer in camp, and was impressed at how easily these knives handled the tasks.
