I don't wear loafers so I would never choose anything that says "loafer sock." These are poorly named. The top actually rolls down, which then, if you are wearing skinny jeans, shows through the pants and gives a sock line. It's ugly and not comfortable. I always have to make sure to put my socks on before I put my pants on. I would not buy these socks again! **Q: where arevthey manufactured** A: I still have one pair unopened. Tag says " Made in China ". **Q: I have a problem with lint on black socks. I found them first at at local overstock store years ago and was devastated when I wanted more and the store no longer had them. I was beyond excited when I found them on Amazon in so many colors. I have large ankles/calves (despite being a reasonable 5'4"/145 lbs) and these are the only tall socks that are comfortable for me to wear all day. They also don't leave a horrid imprint on my skin at the hem like others with a traditional hem do. I know another reviewer said that they don't work with skinny jeans or leggings and I disagree. I simply fold the top in half so that the roll hits around my ankle, right at the hem of my jeans or leggings. You don't notice them at all when you wear them this way. They are soft, last for a long time and thin enough to work with even snug fitting shoes. I have a wide foot (yes, my limbs are like the turkey legs that they sell at Renaissance Fairs thanks to my hefty German grandparents) and many socks are too thick for me to wear in my shoes. I can't have the sock taking up too much room.
