This 30" x 21" matte-finish poster from the Contemporary Physics Education Project distills 14 billion years of cosmic history into a visually rich, scientifically accurate timeline. Developed with Berkeley Lab and Nobel laureate George Smoot, it highlights key concepts like dark energy, cosmic microwave background, and universal expansion. ## Description

This colorful, graphically rich chart illustrates and summarizes what is now known about the history and fate of the universe. Scientists at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) in collaboration with the Contemporary Physics Education Project (CPEP) and Nobel Prize winner George Smoot, have created a chart that is filled with information covering a broad range of cosmological topics. The centerpiece is an evolutionary timeline that takes viewers from the beginning of time, when the universe was much smaller than a proton, to the current era, about 14 billion years later. Side panels provide short discussions on the birth, inflation and expansion of the universe, the cosmic microwave background and redshifts of distant supernovas. This item from CPEP complements its other charts on Nuclear Physics, Fusion and Plasma Physics, and Gravity. CPEP is a world wide, non profit consortium of teacher educators and physicists. CPEP-developed materials seek to disseminate current understanding of the fundamental nature of matter and energy, incorporating the major research findings of recent years.

This one-page poster summarizes exactly what Steven Hawking said, "The Universe in A Nutshell". It is a very useful cheat sheet when I make a presentation on the subject of a brief history of time, big bang, black holes, or the end of solar system, etc.

LOVE IT!

### ⭐⭐⭐ Rather flimsy.
*by A***R on April 2, 2022*

I am somewhat of a universe snob, having studied it extensively. This is not the best layout for the elaboration of the universe. The contents are sparse are far as time and energy contents are concerned. Other posters from this company have been much better, like the one on nuclear science. This one needs to go back to the drawing board. Also, the first poster I had was only in a tube and was damaged. Other shippers put a tube in a box for shipping.
