I'm wondering if grease will get into places that are impossible to clean, like the heating element.** A: Pretty simple compared to what I read about other units. If frying something that really splatters I very lightly wipe down with a dampened dishtowel (only need to dampen cloth about 2 or 3 inches) after it totally cools down... otherwise I check it after a few uses. I never have any any major buildup It has a really good protective covering which is very easy to wipe with cover on or off. Price was on point for what we needed. easy to set and forget. cleaning is easy. ### ⭐ Wonderful idea, but unreliable and no returns or real support. WARNING. *by J***E on September 20, 2024* I was so excited to get this. I have another older PowerXL air fryer and it's fantastic. I liked the idea of this one since it can be an air fryer, grill, rice cooker, and more. I also like the way you can detach and store the air fryer lid portion when only using the glass lid for things like cooking rice or slow-roasting stew. I've owned it just over 3 months and just 7 days ago started air-frying again. It worked for about 5 minutes and then nothing - no heat or fan in the lid would work. It's just completely dead. I tried re-seating the lid, tried unplugging and plugging back into the wall, and nothing works. So I come here to Amazon and find I cannot just ask for a return - I have to email or call some other company. Okay so I emailed and explained the issue. I got an auto reply saying someone would get back to me within 24-48 hours. Nobody got back to me so I called the 800 support number. I was told that for non sales support (for product problems) I have only the option of emailing and that someone will get back to me. Nobody has gotten back to me. So a warning - only buy this product from a vendor who may charge you $10 more but at least will allow you to return the product if it fails. I was really enjoying using this, only used it 5 times in the 3 months I've owned it (1xrice, 2x pot roast, 2x air fry) and super disappointed it has stopped any oven/air fry /lid functions. And even more disappointed I can't just return or get through to someone to have them send me a replacement part or something. UPDATE: The lid (top part) has been replaced. It's working again. I'm an electrical engineer, so once the replacement arrived I did my own root-cause failure analysis on the dead lid. The lid contains a heating element, a fan motor and a thermal fuse. The fan motor is attached to the main fan for the fryer basket, but inside the lid it has another smaller set of fan blades that draw cooling air in through the top of the lid, past the motor and out the side vents. In the dead one, the fan motor was open-circuit - that means the motor died. The fan stops blowing, and the whole metal mounting plate overheats quickly and blows the thermal fuse to prevent house fires. So, at least it fails safely. The internal fan motor is made by Foshan Longbao Motor Electrical Appliance Co. Ltd. in China, model LB-6116.
