Most magnets used in magnetic therapy products have a surface gauss of 1000 gauss and they are still very effective. You can do an approximate measurement yourself. Take a small compass and starting from about 2 feet away start moving the compass slowly toward the magnet. Watch for when the compass needle STARTS to move. That is how far the magnet penetrates. How far is the compass from the magnet?.
