He took to this immediately and began chewing. The first few days he fell asleep exhausted from trying to chew through. Most balls, including KONG he can rip into them immediately and begin chipping away. This ball (middle size) took him over 2 weeks of constant chewing to get "into" it. See the pictures. Most people would be unhappy, but as most dachshund owners know - these dogs can chew through metal...so for a ball to last that long was pretty incredible. He is now trying to "take out" the larger one but he will have a tougher time because it is larger. He loves it and so do I. It also floats in the pool when he gives it a toss for me to go fetch and it is easier to fetch while floating than on the pool floor. I couldn't be happier and bought a second box to replace. At the price, it is a good investment. Dog owners who expect balls to last forever are a little naive - especially when the dog is a "ball addict" and can't get enough. My pit bull loves the stuff! And his breath smells good.
