I got the large-sized bag because I needed a bottle mesh. I can fit my Surface Pro inside with plenty of room to spare, and it's my favorite bag I've ever owned. Almost want to buy a spare just in case... I took it with me to New Zealand, and it was the perfect size for a day bag. I have bony shoulders, so most backpacks with thin straps cut painfully into my shoulder and neck. The broad and cushioned strap spread out the pressure points and felt good even after an entire day of walking. It's very easy to sling the bag on and off, or swing it to the front when I need to grab something real quick. And the number of pockets are amazing! I was able to keep my tickets, cash, journal, etc all separated. The handle at the top was great for carrying it around too. I wore it around in the rain, and even though it's not waterproof, none of my belongings ever got soaked. I'm about to bring it with me to Scotland, so we'll see how it holds up on another international trip and more rain/snow! The only downsides are that sometimes the small of my back got hot and sweaty when using this bag, but it's no biggie. And I still haven't found a use for that snap-closure on the side...it's awkward to open/close, and nothing really fits there. The flap on that snap pocket is bent up at an awkward shape, and I haven't been able to get it to lie flat. Also I would have liked the inner cellphone pockets to be deeper or narrower; my phone slid out a few times when the bag tipped over. Also there are two phone pockets inside, but switching one of them out for wallet-style card slots would make more sense...but again, not a deal breaker.
