The elastic velcro strap ensures that they do not come off the dogs feet. I have used them for the last 5 years and go thorugh atleast 4-5 pairs in a year. The only problem is that the sole wears off in 10 weeks in summer and about 15-16 weeks in winter/snow. I am sure the sole can be enhanced to last longer.
