Review: Works great on 2021 Rav4. Survived 2000 mile trip without problems. - As a Viner, I normally never review things that I actually buy out of my own pocket. But, I'm reviewing this one because it answers questions I had but could never find the answer to. Ok, the most important one. Will the exhaust from a 2021 Rav4 cause any boxes like cardboard, or plastic box, to get hot or catch on fire? And, the resounding answer is NO! We traveled 1130 miles one way to Canada with a LOT of stuff on the back. We had large plastic storage boxes, and cardboard boxes on top of that. We strapped them all down with bungee cords. And, nothing melted or caught on fire. We would periodically check out the boxes in the back at rest stops, and the boxes all felt cool / cold to the touch. I have a 11" sandal / slide to measure the exhaust to the hitch one on of my pics. And, at that distance, everything was safe. On the drive back a few months later, though, we had just some cardboard boxes. We left all of our plastic storage bins up in Canada. And, one thing to not about this hitch is that in wet roads, whatever is in the back there WILL get wet on the under side. However, if you're driving at speed in the rain. The top will not get, because of the drafting effect. Although, the sides of the boxes may get wet. So, if you can, use plastic boxes instead. All in all, this is a GREAT hitch carrier that extends your carrying space. We brought up so much junk with us to Canada, that we needed this hitch to carry everything with us. It's LIGHT. It's STURDY. It's EASY to put together. And, the best thing is, it's way better for your fuel economy than a roof cargo carrier. Those things absolutely kill your fuel economy by adding lots of drag. This hitch carrier with about 100 lbs loaded didn't do anything to our fuel economy. It was the same as it every was. Absolutely, whole heartedly recommend it.

**Q: What is the distance from the pin hole to the tray? ie. How far does the insert extend from the basket to the pin hole?**
A: If you have a spare tire on the back of your vehicle it may not be long enough to go into the hitch reciever. In my case, a Jeep wrangler 2015 spare tire blocked the ability for the carrier to reach the hitch reciever. It reached but could not be inserted enough to put the pin in.

**Q: Does this come with 2 inch receiver?**
A: Yes, the 2 inch receiver is part of the cargo carrier and is built into it. It is a straight receiver (not angled up), so check your exhaust prior to using this carrier. You might need to add a turned exhaust tip to direct the heat away from your cargo. We are very pleased with this cargo carrier, it is well constructed and assembly was fast and easy.

**Q: What are the inside dimensions**
A: According to ad info, it is 47.25 X 20.25 X 6

**Q: Has anyone bought a plastic locking cargo box for this? Just wondering if it would work since the bottom is so open.**
A: I purchased to truck mud flaps and cut them to  fit the bottom, then I strapped a locking plastic box to the carrier.  I drove from Alaska to Ohio and back without a problem..... the box still got some dirt on it, but then so did everything!
