## Description

From the manufacturer QNAP TS-932PX-4G 9 Bay (5 + 4) Desktop NAS Enclosure Compact 9-bay NAS with 10GbE SFP+ and 2.5GbE for Smoother File Applications The quad-core 1.7GHz TS-932PX fits nine drive bays into the size of a 5-bay NAS. With five 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive bays and four 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s bays, the TS-932PX provides the ability to create an HDD/SSD hybrid infrastructure to boost application performance. With two 10GbE SFP+ and two 2.5GbE LAN ports, the TS-932PX supports next-generation networks for empowering bandwidth-demanding applications and providing smoother file access and sharing. High-speed 10GbE and 2.5GbE connectivity The TS-932PX includes two 10GbE SFP+ and two 2.5GbE LAN RJ45 ports, providing out-of-the-box support for high-speed networking and supporting Port Trunking and Failover to reinforce your network infrastructure. QNAP also provide many other high-speed networking solutions, including 10GbE/2.5GbE managed/unmanaged switches and network adapters, allowing you to build a budget-friendly high-speed network environment. Boost NAS performance with 2.5-inch SATA SSDs SSDs can greatly improve NAS performance without requiring a heavy investment. The TS-932PX supports SSD cache technology, Qtier auto-tiering, and SSD over-provisioning, helping you to balance storage performance, storage allocation, and IT expenses. Multi-Point File Backup, Access, and Sync The TS-932PX supports common file sharing protocols (including SMB/CIFS, AFP and NFS) for Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX devices. Coupled with Qsync (a utility that transforms a QNAP NAS into a secure, high-capacity data center for file synchronization) any file uploaded to the TS-932PX becomes available for all linked devices (such as computers, laptops, and mobile devices). Hybrid Backup Sync helps you easily backup or synchronize data on the TS-932PX to another QNAP NAS, remote server, or cloud storage (including Microsoft One Drive, Google Drive, and Dropbox) for disaster recovery. A versatile NAS for your home and work needs Smart AI Photo Management QuMagie integrates QuMagie Core AI image recognition technology for facial recognition, subject identification, and geotagging photos. Similar photos are categorized into People, Places, and Things albums. QuMagie also features a built-in timeline scroll, customizable folder covers, iOS Live Photo display and a powerful search tool, to provide you with the ultimate photo management and image sharing solution. Secure remote access to your QNAP NAS Use myQNAPcloud Link to access, share, download, and manage files stored on an HQ-based NAS via the Internet. QNAP NAS also supports VPN services for remote workers to access the NAS and resources on a private network from the Internet. You can also use QVPN Device Client powered by QNAP's proprietary QBelt protocol to easily connect to your TS-932PX and use measurement tools to know the speed of your VPN connections and connection history. Protect Important Data with Snapshots Snapshots fully record the NAS system state and metadata and can be used to quickly restore files to previously-recorded states if they are accidentally deleted/modified or if the system is compromised by ransomware. QNAP snapshots are block-based and only record modified data. Not only does this save storage space, but also reduces the time required to back up and restore data. The TS-932PX supports up to 256 snapshots per NAS and up to 64 snapshots per volume or LUN.

Review: Very good NAS, I've used QNAP for quite a while - Had a while now. Probably not suitable for a beginner but this us the 3rd QNap I've had and very pleased with this one.
Review: Great for bulk storage using iSCSI to access - I bought this NAS to use on my Hyper-V cluster (It is a lab environment before anyone starts saying I'm mental) and overall I have been pleasantly surprised by the unit. As far as being a NAS I concur with the comments that the unit is a tad under powered and like other NAS' the UI is a bit laggy. it is far from the worst I have used but it is definitely not the snappiest of units when working around the GUI etc. That being said it's no slouch and setting up shares and general administration is easy enough to do. I wouldn't be using this unit for anything other than bulk media storage (It is not going to be doing any transcoding or major performance workloads anytime soon) but as a box standard NAS for NFS/iSCSI it is absolutely fine. I think if I were using the system for a more inteligent workload I would be inclined to go for something with a bit more grunt for caching and managing the data but I am using it as an iSCSI target and so far I have had no issues. In fact I have been so pleased with the unit I bought another to replace a TS932X which decided it was going to permanently power off for good. The units I have are running with a mix of SSDs and 10TB+ HDDs without any issue or oddities, the iSCSI connection has stayed up with no major issues and upgrading the unit is easy but takes an absolute age to complete. The NICs on the unit are the main selling point in my opinion, this NAS got it right by having SFP+ for the 10G connection rather than copper so you have no worries of being able to use the unit as a stove top In terms of noise the fan of the unit is reasonably quiet with the disk noises overpowering it. Overall they are great units if you just need bulk storage, if you are wanting something a bit more fancy for media sharing etc I would go with a unit that has a better CPU

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this handle 9x 18tb drives?**
A: Only 5 of them as 4 of the bays are 2.5" only and they do not make 2.5" drives up to 18TB unfortunately. Take a look at our TS-832PX instead, this will allow you to use 8 x 3.5" bays so you could use all bays for 18TB if you wish.

**Q: Can i connect the 10gbe port directly to a mac mini m1 (10 gigabit ethernet version) and expect it to achieve full speed?
not sure what that sfp+ is.**
A: SFP+ is a type of 10GbE connection, usually there are 2 types, 10GBASE-T looks like a normal RJ45 port (what the Mac mini has) and SFP+ requires a transceiver or DAC cable to link. Whilst there are converters that will convert an SFP+ to a 10GBASE-T, we do not test them so that is up to you if you wanted to use them. The other option is to get a switch that has both SFP+ and 10GBASE-T ports on it. Something like our QSW-M408-2C would be a good option here as it has 2 x 10GbE ports and you can choose to use either SFP+ or 10GBASE-T.

**Q: Is it possible to use nvme drives in this? I have the sn750 1tb I was using in a caddy and would like to pop it in.**
A: Not directly as we have no M.2 or U.2 bays on this unit, but if you have a caddy for the drive bays on the front then maybe, but these wouldn't be on our compatibility list so it's never been tested. Also they would be limited to SATA speeds if used in the drive bays.

**Q: Does the ARM version support docker and virtualisation?**
A: It supports Container Station for things like Docker, but it will not support full virtualisation for things like a full blown copy of Windows/Linux to be installed/run, our Virtualisation Station application is needed for those and this is only available on Intel/AMD CPU based NAS.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for business use as well as media streaming
*by A***X on 10 May 2024*

Overall I added an 18tb Ironwolf Pro for main storage, a 4tb SSD for essential files, 2 x 1tb SSD for write caching and it's a solid performer, reliable and easy to update with excellent support, although if you just want Plex than I would go with something cheaper but for business use as well as general this is a winner.
