They are wax coated, so I was wondering if paint would even stick?** A: After a few weeks the wax on the roof gets thin and allows the wood to peel. I pulled it off and flamed it with a map gas torch to get the wax off and create a "sho sugi ban" (sp) look, then coated with urethane sealer. It's holding up well now. I'll probably do the same to the boxes after a year of them being in the sun or earlier if they start to get bad. If you do the boxes, the wax will seep through the paint, so wait a season or flame thoroughly. **Q: How do you tranfer bees from an old hive into the new one. How are the bees fed** A: Hello dear, Below ways can help to transfer from an old hive into the new one: 1. transfer the queen bee from the old bee hive to the new one ,The queen bee will attract the other bees into the new hive . 2. Prepare a frame with comb which is coated with honey or beeswax,Put the frame into the old hive ,after the bees crawling up on the comb, Then put the frame into the new hive . Thus thansfer the bees into a new hive. 3. Brush some honey or beeswax inside the new hive and the bee entrance to attract the bees . You can put the feeder into the brood box ,then can feed the bees .
