**Q: is this a 1-1/4 inch diameter?**
A: Yes, it is a 1 1/4" bar diameter.

**Q: Should a grab bar be mounted vertically or horizontally, or does it matter?**
A: Hi Martin, in my case, I needed the bar mounted horizontally, so if my hand slipped at one point, I could slide it on across the bar. The best  answer is to decide which works best for you. Even an angle mount is popular in some applications. Mine also doubles as a towel bar, so I mounted it horizontally. Now, structurally, it's going to be the same...find the stud...and if needed, use the mounting kit..(priced separately, but worth it.) Hope this helps!

**Q: Does this item come with the secure mount anchors , plastic guide sleeves mentioned in the video or must they be purchased separately?**
A: According to the description the Secure Mount assembly is sold separately. This bar is sold based on securing the bar to a wall stud, if you want to mount it to a hollow wall then you will need to purchase the Secure Mount Assembly

**Q: Will be using as a door handle on a 1x3 board (really 2.5 inches). What is width of the flange/plate, please? Can't tell from product dimensions...**
A: 3 inches with bar in center..  It is a great product.  Nice and sturdy when you have the studs behind...So plan well..

I bought this Moen stainless grab bar when my mother suffered an injury that made it dangerous for her to get in and out of the shower without support. She wanted something that was not only sturdy but also attractive, and I settled on this one in part because of Moen's reputation. Installation is easy, especially if you can attach it to studs on both ends; if you can't, then you'll have to purchase the secure mounts separately, one for each end that isn't attached to a stud. The 36" length allows her to not only step out of the shower but also to be supported for another step forward. And when her injury heals, it can be used as a towel bar, albeit an extra thick one. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann
