## Questions & Answers

**Q: what is the filter size**
A: It does not have threads for filters. Some would consider this a fault but I do not. You can do all sorts of manipulation of digital images electronically so there is no real need for filters, a polarizer being the only exception. Some people keep some sort of innocuous filter, 81A or whatever, on their lens all the time for protection. My photography teacher pointed out many years ago that if you bang a lens hard enough to hurt the filter you will probably hurt the lens as well. It is better to just be careful of the lens. I have not kept a filter on a lens since starting photography school many, many years ago. There is, in my opinion, no problem with this lens not having filter threads. You will love the camera if you buy it.

**Q: How can I charge the camera's battery in Germany...do I need a converter..or just a plug adapter? Is there anything on the camera I must adjust?**
A: The charger that comes with the camera is 110/220 volt. So, all you need is an adapter for whatever wall outlet they use in Germany. I find it a hassle to carry the factory charger, what with the length of the 2 cords and the size of the transformer. If you have the time - say 10 days - before leaving for Germany, I suggest you go to eBay and buy a travel charger and 2 batteries for like $20., shipped free from China. The batteries hold their charges for a surprising long time. You DON'T need a converter - just an adapter plug.

**Q: is this camera a dlsr**
A: No. I reviewed several sites, including Sony, and the camera is described as "dslr-like." The camera will, however, allow you to adjust light and speed settings and work manually. This camera works best when you are close to the object (no zoom) and the subject is very still (not the best for shooting wildlife). Thank you for asking the question as I will consider the dslr cameras n future purchases.

**Q: Can I stamp date on every picture?**
A: Technically every photo has a date "stamp" in it, but you can't see it. It's stored inside the file with other technical information (like camera settings, and in the case of this camera GPS location). This data is referred to as EXIF data. Most versions of Windows and I believe Macs will show you the EXIF data in the file properties (try right clicking and choosing properties). Now if you need that date printed onto or next to the photo like the old film camera would you can use a number of different programs that will read the file and superimpose the date into the image. Here is a link on how to do it with the Sony PMB software: http://community.sony.com/t5/Bloggie/How-to-superimpose-a-date-or-time-stamp-on-still-images-for/td-p/32819I haven't tried this since I prefer to keep my dates digital, but it should work.
