A: 7.62x39 would be a .308 cal so you can use the adapter meant for that. These come with adapters from .17 to a .50

Works great if you know how to tune the adapter. You will have to discover that the adapter is screwed on a cone-shaped end of the device. As you screw the adapter on the rod, the cone forces the adapter's arms to spread, increasing the adapter's diameter. This is how the adapter's diameter is tuned to match the exact diameter of the bore. Until you learn this, your impression will be that the adapters are either too loose or too large to fit in the bore.
