**Q: What is the purpose of color tops?**
A: They are for blending between multiple different colors on one pen by mixing directly one the nib. I wouldn't say they are needed but the are a useful bonus. I'd really consider this a 15 marker set with the color tops as assesories.

**Q: Why do the color tops duplicate colors of the pens?  i was hoping for 25 different colors, but it looks like that is not the case?**
A: Well you don't necessarily color with the color tops themselves, they're only for making smooth color to color gradients. So if you looked at your colors and wanted to make a gradient between them you could make it easy by using the color tops. They'll still work if you put a color top on a different colored marker.
