A: It's quite big and very thick/deep, so wouldn't say it's suitable. But obviously depends on the age and size of the child.

Brought as a replacement for the unyielding lump of plastic masquerading a seat that came with my daughter's bike, a whole world of difference, cycle manufacturers always seem to scrimp when it comes to saddles and pedals. Saddle springs would have been a nice touch but cannot grumble too much for the price.
