A: Yes, base test it, with the more expensive one you can test more points at the same time.

**Q: Does this work with rj11 and cat5?**
A: Yes it does. As well as coax cables.

**Q: Do the remote identifiers also function as testers**
A: Hi,
Yes, it does test the line indicating a PASS or FAULT on the screen. If the cable fails then it will also show which pairs have failed. I have used it to install lines across floors and rooms altogether and I was very satisfied with it. However, I would suggest having a look at youtube; there are plenty of videos showing the full range of features that the tester covers.
