There is often a warning on the dash of both cars that the battery levels are low. Just to be certain we needed to replace the batteries I purchased this Topdon BT200 car battery tester. Delivery was very quick and I received a message giving not only the date of arrival but also the time (before 1 p.m.) pretty good. The packaging was very good and I’ll use the box the keep the tester in as its well made and has lots of foam padding shaped to the tester. First impressions were that this device is well made and good quality with a nice feel to it. The instructions were very clear and so simple that after using it once everything is pretty straight forward without have to read them again.The clamps are strong and wide enough to grip the battery terminals and have plenty of cable to find an earth point on the engine. The colour screen is very clear and the menu system straightforward. I found that sometimes when testing the battery it displayed ‘replace’ but when tested again 47% so I repeated and found that the battery was around 50%which probably means the connections were not secure on the first try. The charging test, cranking, state of charge and state of health all provided enough information to indicated both batteries needed to be replaced soon. As they are both around 5 years old they’ve done well. The tester also told me that the alternators were fine. I’m very pleased with this device and at £43.50 feel it’s good value for money.
