Review: Doesn't Last - I'd avoid this line especially when you have this much storage on the line. The drive died less than six months in and I had no warning! I regularly check my drives for errors and this had no issues. Then suddenly one day it stopped working. The warrenty is a joke and I'm hoping most of my files can be retrieved with software. The manufacturers can talk about all the tech and features of these high capacity drives but I've already had two 18tb drives fail in less than year (this and a Seagate) while a 20tb was DOA. What's even worse is when you have no issues and then suddenly it's dead like this drive! I shouldn't need to buy several drives to have as back-ups of my backups.

I'd avoid this line especially when you have this much storage on the line. The drive died less than six months in and I had no warning! I regularly check my drives for errors and this had no issues. Then suddenly one day it stopped working. The warrenty is a joke and I'm hoping most of my files can be retrieved with software. The manufacturers can talk about all the tech and features of these high capacity drives but I've already had two 18tb drives fail in less than year (this and a Seagate) while a 20tb was DOA. What's even worse is when you have no issues and then suddenly it's dead like this drive! I shouldn't need to buy several drives to have as back-ups of my backups.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Drive warranty shows "Out Of Region" but that's ok

As others have mentioned, these drives are not from the US and when registered within the US will show "Out Of Region." I contacted WD support, and got this message - "Please to inform you that I have checked with my team and they informed that the warranty of the drive is validated as per the proof of purchase. So I would request you to keep the proof of purchase safe with you. Also you can ignore the out of region part as we are the one who will assist you if you need to claim warranty replacement for the drive." He reassured me that the warranty will be honored for the expected 5 year window, although the status "Out Of Region" will remain. That being said, these things are LOUD. Most of the time they’re reasonably quiet, but several times per hour they’ll unleash floor rattling clicking for several seconds at a time that I can hear through a wall. One of six drives experienced 3 CRC errors in the first day, it’s been about a month and nothing since but I will keep an eye on them.
