Review: An excellent charger for a multitude of battery chemistries - Fantastic battery charger for a variety of uses. Have an old fashioned charger that I used for years on our vehicles on occasions when we needed. My old charger was the analog transformer style and it was quite noisy when in use. While these old chargers work fine for the occasions when you need them, they only work on the Lead-Acid style of battery found for starting engines in vehicles. Nothing wrong with that, but they cannot handle many of the newer type of battery chemistries that you can encounter. I had built my own portable power bank using a LiPo battery and needed a way to be able to charge it up. I bought this specifically for that task and it worked excellently. It charges fast and it is completely silent while in use. The smart charging circuitry is perfect for being able to adjust the charger to allow it to maximize performance and handling of the specific type of battery you are using it with. Thus it is perfect for handling both the newer LiPo batteries like I used in my power bank project, as well as replacing the older and bulkier analog chargers.

Then, if the battery doesn't read but a volt or two, some chargers will mistake a car battery to be 6 volts and it won't charge it to 12. This one can charge a battery from zero. Worth the extra dollars. The only drawback: You must purchase battery clamps since the charger only comes with wire terminals. No problem.

**Q: Can this be used with ionic lithium marine batteries?… Ionic states not to use a charger that has a desulfurization feature..thanks in advance!**
A: There is no desulfation in 12V Lithium mode.

**Q: Whats the difference beetween this pro 10aml model and the regular 10amp on board model**
A: Robert R. noted that the older Gen10 model is not weatherproofed but it also has a 6v battery charging capability, with what looks like less capabilities for Lithium (pertaining to self-managed or not ... reports vary as to whether BMS is required or won't work with it depending on battery).  The GenPro10+1 has eyelets and tap screws for mounting on boats inline if desired while the GEN5 and Gen10 are pictured with battery clamps.

**Q: What is the maximum battery capacity? Mine is 400ah 12v so if this can't charge it do you know what will?**
A: The 230 amp-hours is a recommendation. It can charge batteries with higher capacities, but it takes longer to recharge. For example, a 400 amp-hour battery takes roughly 40-hours to recharge with a GENPRO10X1. For comparison, the GENIUSPRO25 would be 12-hours, and the GENIUSPRO50 would be 6-hours.

**Q: are two batteries in parallel considered one bank?**
A: Yes. We recommend a two-bank charger for a two-battery setup. See NOCO GEN5X2 and GENPRO10X2 models.

I picked this up to keep a battery maintained without having to mess with portable chargers, and it’s been a solid set-it-and-forget-it setup. The install is straightforward. Once it’s wired in, you don’t really have to think about it again. It mounts clean, and the connections feel secure without being complicated to hook up. What stands out is how automatic it is. It detects the battery condition and adjusts charging without needing input.
