A: The place where the plates rest is curved to match the edges of round plates, so, no square plates would not rest well in this product.

I purchased the large unit for my dinner plates and unfortunately it was 1/4 of an inch too small. My dinner plates did not fit. I wanted this so that I may save space in my cupboard. I was going to return, however my sister suggested that I use for holding paper plates. It was a brilliant idea and it works great. The product is not cheaply made and would highly recommend it, however keep in mind dish size..
