Review: I've become a fan of curved monitors - I needed a new external monitor since I work from home. I'm not a gamer nor creative professional. My work mostly involves Microsoft Office products, like word, excel, outlook. I also in a lot of virtual meetings. My two biggest requirements were a large screen and high resolution. I often have multiple windows open & wanted to easily fit 3 or 4 windows to work on simultaneously on the monitor. Crisp picture quality was also important. Fuzzy text is so distracting. And since I'm on the computer all day, looking at low resolution text is just an eye sore. I'm very pleased with the 32" 4K monitor I bought. The picture quality is excellent enough that I've also doubled the monitor to stream movies. The built in speakers are also decent. I like that it's versatile to use for office work & streaming movies. The build of the monitor is solid. The base is very sturdy. It's pretty heavy, but I like that. I'd rather it be solid & heavy than need to worry about it tipping over. It does not pivot to portrait, but that's fine for me because I only want to use it in landscape position anyway. It can't securely packaged. And was very easy to set up, practically plug & play. This is my first curved monitor, & I took a chance on it after reading that curved monitors are more ergonomic. And I can attest that it is. Nothing looks weird or warped or distorted due to the curve. Everything on the screen looks clear & easily viewable when sitting in the center of the screen; I hardly have to move my head. But that doesn't mean you have to sit in the center. Everything on the screen is just as easy to view/read when you're at an angle from the center of the monitor. I've been using it for almost a month. No problems. Came with all the necessary cables. I've also attached it to my MacAir & my Dell laptop. The external monitor works equally well with both. That was the true test; if this monitor wasn't compatible with my MacAir, I would've returned it. This monitor is a great value for the price. I did alot of research. For the size of the screen & picture quality, this monitor is excellent! You'll find way more expensive ones that aren't as good. This is a great buy.
Review: Nice replacement for an older 4K monitor - As a graphic artist, I've used LG monitors for years, ending with an LG 27UP600-W (27" 4K) that was getting a bit long in the tooth. Disliking the LG's base/stand (wobbled a lot and didn't hold the monitor level horizontally) and looking for something a bit different, I decided to go to a Dell. I really appreciate the base/stand on Dell monitors (which holds their monitors level with no wobble), and I wanted a bigger, curved screen, 4K resolution, accurate colors, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The Dell S3221QS checks all of these boxes. It's 32", curved, 4K, has nice colors and the 60Hz refresh rate. The blacks are dark and inky. Movies (like 'Avatar: The Way of Water') look good on it. It's a well-built piece of hardware that feels solid. I'm perfectly aware that the colors may not be "quite" as accurate as a screen with IPS technology (this Dell is vertical alignment, or VA), but I appreciate the darker blacks. I also have not seen any major issues with ghosting and tearing with some of the gaming I've done on it. The only downside I've seen so far with this being a VA screen is with viewing angles. Colors can appear washed out if you're looking at this monitor from any direction other than dead center. With that said, I'm rarely, if ever, not viewing this screen from anything other than directly in front of it, so this is not a huge concern. In sum, the Dell S3221QS is a heavy, well-built monitor that's good for general office/productivity use (and some gaming) that meets all of my requirements. It's also about the only sub-$500 monitor on the market, from any manufacturer, with a curved screen, that isn't an ultrawide.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you turn it on?**
A: 1) Make sure the power outlet is working. Try a hair dryer or lamp for example.
2) Plug monitor into that working outlet.
3) Push the last button to the right on the bottom, right corner.
4) The monitor will say “Searching for signal,” assuming you haven’t plugged any video sources into it yet.

**Q: Is there a vesa compatible mount in the back?**
A: The monitor has the vesa mount standard 100x100mm. You can take this mount > https://topreviews24..com/monitor-wall-mount/mounting-dream-md2463/ < I'm very happy with it.

**Q: Curved or not? Description says it is, but buyers can’t decide.**
A: The 27" is flat. The 32" is curved.

**Q: What is the difference between this monitor and s3221qs? why this is much more expensive then s3221qs**
A: I previewed the specs from both monitors and I couldn't find any differences other than a few additional plugins on the monitor (additional DP plugin, it has the same amount of HDMI though). I guess the additional plugin costs approximately 15 extra bucks ($ 535 qs version vs $500-550 q version).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good for coding
*by W***M on April 30, 2023*

Edit (5/7/2023): Okay so after owning this monitor for a week or so, I've found that the flickering issue is still intermittent. Changing the color profile to RTS did not mitigate it, nor is changing it to any other profile (both on the monitor or in the Mac System Settings) . This appears to be a common issue with Apple's M1 chips and 4K external monitors (there are plenty of threads about this). I did not know about this prior to buying this monitor and I could not find a definite solution for this. I did not have this issue when I had a 2K monitor with my M1 Macbook, both Dell U and S series 27 inch 2k monitor, and a Viotek Ultrawide 2K monitor also. I'm still debating if I should return this or not and downgrade back to a 2K monitor. I'm leaving it to 5 stars since it's not the monitor's fault, it's the M1 chip. Just a few notes/tips: - I downloaded the BetterDisplay App for the Mac. The license is only $15 and I've applied the license to two separate M1 macbooks with no problem. This allows you to enable native resolution scaling, which helps with the scaled resolution clarity somewhat, along with additional fine tuning configs. If you don't know, Apple has scaling issues with 4k Monitors, refer to YouTube videos for more info. - Setting the color profile to Generic RGB Profile really makes the color pop and the darks darker. So making it closer to the Macbook's native color vibrancy. This is set in the System Settings > Displays > Select the Dell S3221QS > Set color Profile to Generic RGB Profile (of course you can try out the other profiles too). - Setting the response time to 'Extreme' should reduce ghosting (Just found this in some YouTube video) ------ Previous Review --------------------------------------------------------------------- Sharp display for coding. I’m a software engineer. I initially made a mistake of purchasing a 2K 32 inch monitor. The text was somewhat pixelated, I knew it would cause eventual eye fatigue. Then, I picked this one up and the texts are very sharp even at 3008x1692 resolution (higher than 2k, less than 4K) which offers more screen real estate than 1440p. I’m happy with it. All I care about is the text sharpness, I don’t play video games nor do I do any kind of video/photo editing, so I can’t comment about the vibrancy and/or color accuracy. Only con I found is that with the standard preset mode, I saw that the backlight flickers when scrolling rapidly through some webpages. But once I changed it to RTS, it went away. Idk, maybe it’s a specific issue with my monitor (I purchased it used). Anyways, no regrets. And to think I was considering picking up the Apple Studio display. Definitely saved me some funds 👌🏽
